Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar Appointed New Chief Whip of Trinamool Congress in Lok Sabha

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Dr. Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has been appointed as the party’s new Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha. The decision comes following the resignation of senior party leader Kalyan Banerjee from the position. TMC has also named MP Satabdi Roy as the new Deputy Leader of the party in the Lower House.

The party has accepted Banerjee’s resignation, which follows recent internal disagreements and public criticism of fellow party members. The change is viewed as part of a broader leadership reshuffle within the TMC’s parliamentary setup.

Dr. Ghosh Dastidar, a four-time MP representing the Barasat constituency, previously held the role of Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha. Known for her longstanding association with the party and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, she brings significant legislative and organizational experience to her new role.

In a related development, TMC’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has been appointed as the Leader of the Party in the Lok Sabha, replacing Sudip Bandyopadhyay, who is currently unwell. The party’s leadership stated that these appointments were made to strengthen coordination and ensure an effective presence in the Parliament.

Satabdi Roy, who represents Birbhum and is a two-time MP, has also been a prominent voice within the party. Her appointment as Deputy Leader is seen as a move to further solidify the party’s strategy in the House.

The new appointments are aimed at enhancing the party’s floor coordination during key legislative discussions and upcoming sessions. TMC is expected to play an active role in debates on national issues, including electoral reforms and state matters.
