Disturbing Chat Exposed: Delhi Woman & Lover Arrested for Husband’s Murder

A woman and her lover have been arrested for the murder of her husband in Delhi’s Dwarka area after Instagram chats between the pair revealed a chilling murder plot. The accused allegedly sedated the victim with sleeping pills and electrocuted him to make the death appear accidental.

The victim, 36-year-old Karan Dev, was found dead on July 13 at his residence. His wife, Sushmita Dev (35), and her lover Rahul Dev (24), who is also the victim’s cousin, were arrested on July 19 after Karan’s brother discovered incriminating messages on Sushmita’s social media account.

According to police, Sushmita and Rahul were in a relationship and conspired to eliminate Karan to pursue their affair and gain control of the property. The two allegedly planned the murder over Instagram chats, where they discussed sedating Karan during dinner with 15 sleeping pills and then electrocuting him using wires.

In one of the messages sent during the murder attempt, Sushmita wrote to Rahul: “I can’t get his mouth open. I can pour water in, but I can’t give the medicine. You come here, maybe together we can manage to feed it to him.” Investigators say the couple continued to coordinate through messages even while attempting the act.

When the pills did not cause death as expected, the accused allegedly taped Karan’s hands and feet, inserted a live wire into his mouth, and electrocuted him. Karan was later rushed to a hospital in Janakpuri, where he was declared dead.

Initial statements from the accused claimed it was an accidental death. However, the suspicious circumstances and family objections to an autopsy raised red flags. Police then conducted a post-mortem examination, which confirmed death due to electrocution.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh confirmed that the couple had been arrested and charged under Section 302 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. “We recovered the chats from their phones and verified them. They confessed during questioning. Material used in the crime has been seized,” he said.

Both accused are now in police custody, and further investigation is ongoing to determine if others were involved.
