Shopkeeper Robbed in Broad Daylight Near Bhopal Police Station

A shopkeeper from Vidisha was robbed of his wallet in broad daylight just a short distance from the Shahjahanabad police station in Bhopal, raising concerns over public safety even in areas close to law enforcement premises.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Bunty Ahirwar, had traveled to Bhopal to purchase goods. According to the complaint, he was sitting in an open field near the Bada Bagh graveyard when two unidentified men approached him. The duo allegedly threatened him and forcibly took his wallet before fleeing the scene. The wallet reportedly contained ₹4,000 in cash and several important personal documents.

Ahirwar attempted to chase the robbers but was unsuccessful in catching them. He immediately reported the incident to the Shahjahanabad police station. Based on his complaint, the police have registered a case of snatching under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Authorities have begun reviewing surveillance footage from nearby areas to identify the suspects. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is ongoing and all efforts are being made to trace the accused and recover the stolen items.

This incident adds to a growing list of snatching cases being reported across Bhopal, including in busy areas and near police stations. Law enforcement officials have acknowledged a noticeable rise in such crimes in recent months. Sources indicate that many of the perpetrators are youths, some of whom are reportedly influenced or used by organized groups operating in low-income neighborhoods.

Senior police officials have stated that additional patrols will be deployed and surveillance will be enhanced in areas that have become frequent targets for such crimes. Residents are being advised to remain alert and promptly report any suspicious activity.
