Scrap Dealer Stabbed to Death by Live-In Partner in Gurugram

A 38-year-old scrap dealer was stabbed to death by his live-in partner at their rented residence in Sector 37 on Saturday morning. The victim, identified as Manish Kumar, was allegedly attacked by his partner, a 35-year-old woman from Sindh in Pakistan.

According to police, the woman stabbed Kumar multiple times in the chest and back, reportedly over a financial dispute. Neighbours alerted authorities after hearing screams. Kumar was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Local residents and eyewitnesses reported that the couple had been living together unofficially for over a year and frequently argued. Police recovered the knife used in the crime as part of their investigation.

The accused surrendered to local authorities some hours after the incident and has been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including murder. She is currently in police custody pending a formal charge sheet.

Gurugram Police Commissioner directed the Criminal Investigation Department to take over the probe and examine all possible motives. Forensic teams are collecting evidence, while witnesses are being questioned to reconstruct the events leading up to the killing.

Residents in the area expressed shock over the incident and emphasised that violent disputes in shared tenancies require more attention. The community has urged local authorities to enhance security in neighbourhoods hosting transient couples.

Police officials have reiterated their appeal for the timely reporting of domestic disputes to prevent escalation. The investigation continues, and updates are expected as legal proceedings move forward.
