Odisha Man and Two Women Arrested for Allegedly Killing Wife, Staging It as Suicide

A man and his two female companions have been arrested in Nuagaon village, Ganjam district, for allegedly murdering his wife and attempting to pass it off as a suicide.

The incident came to light after the accused, Santosh Naik, 30, reportedly informed his mother-in-law that her daughter, Puja Naik, 28, had taken her own life by hanging. When she arrived at the couple’s house, she was not allowed inside, but managed to see Puja’s body wrapped in cloth.

According to the police, Puja and Santosh had been married for about 12 years and had four children together. Investigators revealed that Puja had frequently expressed concerns about her husband’s extramarital affairs, which had led to ongoing disputes between the couple.

Following a complaint filed by Puja’s mother, a police investigation was launched. Authorities arrested Santosh and his two alleged lovers, Anita Naik, 26, and Sruti Parida, 21. The three have been booked under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to murder.

Police stated that the accused tried to make the death appear like a suicide, but inconsistencies in their statements and the condition of the body raised suspicions. Based on preliminary findings and witness accounts, investigators concluded that the death was staged.

The incident has caused significant unrest in the local community, with residents expressing shock over the gruesome details and the involvement of multiple individuals in the crime. Further investigation is underway to uncover more details surrounding the motive and planning of the murder.

Authorities have assured that justice will be pursued swiftly and in accordance with the law.
