Minor Crashes Father’s Car in Delhi, E-Rickshaw Driver Killed

A tragic accident in the Dwarka area of the capital claimed the life of an e-rickshaw driver after a 16-year-old boy, driving his father’s car without permission, lost control and crashed into the vehicle on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. near the Dwarka Sector 16 Metro Station. According to police reports, the minor was accompanied by his younger sister when he took the car out for a drive. While driving at high speed, he lost control of the vehicle, which overturned and collided with an oncoming e-rickshaw.

The e-rickshaw driver, a man in his 40s from Najafgarh, sustained serious head injuries in the crash. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Doctors confirmed that he was unfit to give a statement before he passed away.

Police have registered a case under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 106 (causing death by negligence), Section 125 (endangering life or personal safety of others), and Section 281 (rash and negligent driving). Both the car and the e-rickshaw have been seized, and a forensic team visited the scene to collect evidence.

Officials stated that legal action is also being initiated against the father of the minor for allegedly allowing his underage son access to the vehicle. The boy and his sister did not sustain any injuries in the incident.

A senior police officer handling the case emphasized the serious consequences of underage and unlicensed driving. He confirmed that the accident occurred due to the boy’s inability to control the car at high speed, which led to the fatal collision.

Further investigation is underway, and the police are expected to file a detailed report soon.
