Man Arrested for Killing 14-Year-Old Nephew Over Online Gaming Dispute

Bengaluru police have arrested a 50-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 14-year-old nephew following a series of arguments related to the boy’s addiction to online gaming. The incident took place in the Soladevanahalli area and came to light earlier this week.

According to officials, the victim, identified as Amoghakirti, had been living with his maternal uncle, Nagaprasad, for the past eight months. The teenager was reportedly addicted to mobile games and frequently harassed his uncle for money to continue playing. Police said that tensions in the household escalated when the boy began physically assaulting his uncle during arguments.

On Monday morning, Nagaprasad allegedly slit the boy’s throat while he was asleep. He then left the body in the house and fled the scene. The police discovered the boy’s decomposed body three days later, after the accused surrendered at the Soladevanahalli police station.

Officials stated that Nagaprasad admitted to the murder during questioning. He told police that the teenager had assaulted him about a week earlier, which had left him feeling angry and helpless. He also confessed to contemplating suicide after the incident but was unable to follow through.

Deputy Commissioner of Police for the North West Division, D L Nagesh, said that the murder was reported by the accused himself. The investigation revealed that the boy had stopped going to school and showed signs of psychological distress. Police believe unresolved mental health issues may have contributed to the ongoing conflict between the two.

The accused has been taken into custody and booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The case remains under investigation.
