Lieutenant General Arvind Chauhan has officially assumed command as the 29th General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Sudarshan Chakra Corps. A seasoned officer from the First Gorkha Rifles, he brings with him over 34 years of distinguished service in various operational, strategic, and leadership roles across the Indian Army.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA) and Indian Military Academy (IMA), Lieutenant General Chauhan has held key field and staff appointments throughout his career. He is known for his professional competence and experience in counter-terrorism operations and high-altitude warfare. His prior assignments involved leadership in critical operational zones, as well as contributions to strategic planning at senior levels.

The Sudarshan Chakra Corps, based under the Indian Army’s Southern Command, is responsible for securing vital national frontiers and maintaining a high state of operational preparedness. As one of the Army’s pivotal formations, it plays a significant role in defending the country’s strategic interests in the southern theatre.

With his background in both frontline leadership and institutional management, Lieutenant General Chauhan is expected to focus on operational readiness, troop welfare, and modernization of combat capabilities.
