In a firm response to border control violations, Pimpri Chinchwad police in Maharashtra deported six Bangladeshi nationals who had been residing illegally in India. The action follows an investigation led by the Crime Branch into unauthorised foreign residents living in the Wakad area, demonstrating continued enforcement of immigration laws in the region.

The police operation began after Unit 4 of the Crime Branch received intelligence that several Bangladeshi nationals were preparing to relocate from Bhujbal Chowk in Wakad to Mumbai. Authorities identified the suspects, who had been employed as laborers, electricians, and hotel staff, and detained them for questioning. Upon being asked to present valid documents proving their right to remain in India, none could produce the necessary identification or permits.

According to Police Commissioner Vinoykumar Choubey, the individuals were posing as Indian citizens and were found in violation of immigration regulations. “These six Bangladesh nationals were wrongfully identifying themselves as Indian nationals and were living in our jurisdiction. They were restricted as per the procedure and were deported to Bangladesh on July 22,” he stated.

The deportation was carried out after thorough verification, and the individuals were transferred to a secured location along the India–Bangladesh border. From there, they were handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF), completing the formal deportation process.

The six deported individuals have been identified as Mohammad Usman Shirajun Ali Sheikh (35), Abdullah Shagar Mullah (25), Mobin Harun Sheikh (39), Jahangir Bilal Mullah (34), Mohammad Ilahin Ilyas Vikas (22), and Tahid Muslem Hossain Sheikh (26). All are residents of districts in Bangladesh, including Satkhira, Narail, and Jashore.

This incident highlights the challenges posed by illegal immigration and the critical role of local enforcement in upholding national laws. The Pimpri Chinchwad police’s proactive approach serves as a reminder of the importance of stringent verification procedures and continued vigilance in safeguarding national interests.
