Family of Meghalaya Honeymoon Murder Victim Performs Ritual at Crime Scene

The family of Raja Raghuvanshi, the Indore businessman who was brutally murdered during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, has performed a puja at the site where his body was discovered. The ceremony was held at the Weissawdong Falls parking area in Sohra, a remote and hilly part of the state, where the crime occurred in May this year.

Raja’s brother, Vipin Raghuvanshi, led the emotional ritual alongside other family members. He said the puja was a way to honor Raja’s memory and to seek peace for his soul. The family expressed that returning to the crime scene was deeply painful but necessary for their healing. Vipin also reiterated their demand for justice and called for the case to be tried in a fast-track court.

Raja was found dead on June 2, days after he and his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi were reported missing during their honeymoon trip. An investigation revealed that Sonam, along with her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha and three others, had conspired to murder Raja. All five suspects are currently in custody.

The family has also voiced concerns over the bail granted to three individuals accused of tampering with evidence and plans to file legal motions in Shillong to challenge these decisions. They are additionally requesting a narco test on Sonam and have appealed to the Prime Minister to hand the case over to the Central Bureau of Investigation, citing fears of a possible cover-up or wider criminal conspiracy.
