Elderly Woman Robbed by Fake Electricity Workers in Bhopal’s Kolar Area

In an incident in Bhopal’s Kolar area, a 78-year-old woman was robbed by two individuals who posed as electricity department workers. The robbers forcibly entered her residence and fled with her gold chain, raising alarm among residents over the rising number of street-level crimes.

According to police reports, the elderly woman was alone at home when the two men arrived at her door, claiming to be from the electricity department. Once inside, they overpowered her and snatched her gold chain before escaping. The Kolar police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

This incident was one of two major robberies reported in Bhopal on the same day. In a separate case in Bairagarh, a cloth merchant was targeted when a bag containing ₹50,000 in cash was stolen from him. The merchant had stepped away briefly when the theft occurred.

The twin incidents have caused concern among residents, particularly the elderly, about their safety and the growing use of impersonation tactics by criminals. Police have taken note of the seriousness of the cases and are considering enhancing the charges in the Kolar robbery to reflect the aggravated nature of the crime.

Residents in the affected neighborhoods have urged authorities to step up patrols and increase awareness about impersonation tactics. Many have also called for verification procedures for individuals claiming to represent utility or service providers.
