Driver Flees with ₹13.65 Lakh and SUV, Caught by UP Police in Muzaffarnagar

A coal trader from Delhi was left shocked after his driver fled with ₹13.65 lakh in cash and his Toyota Fortuner SUV while they were en route to collect payments. The Uttar Pradesh Police swiftly tracked and arrested the accused near Muzaffarnagar, recovering both the vehicle and the full amount.

The incident occurred when Ayush Jain, a businessman based in Delhi, stopped for dinner at a roadside dhaba along the Delhi-Dehradun highway under Kotwali police station limits. His driver, Parmeshwar Yadav, who had been entrusted with the SUV and the collected cash, took the opportunity to drive away while Jain was dining.

After discovering the vehicle and the money were missing, Jain immediately reported the theft to the local police. Authorities registered a case under Section 316 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to criminal breach of trust. A search operation was launched, and police began reviewing CCTV footage along the highway and surrounding areas.

Circle Officer Ramashish Yadav stated that based on surveillance footage and tracking data, the accused was located near the Sufeda Road underpass in Khatauli. Upon apprehension, the police recovered both the SUV and the entire sum of money from the driver.

According to police officials, Parmeshwar Yadav had been employed by Jain for some time and was considered trustworthy. The trader had sent him on this trip to collect payments related to his coal business. The betrayal, however, occurred during a routine stop for food, where the driver took advantage of a momentary lapse in supervision.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine whether Yadav had any accomplices or if the act was premeditated. He is currently in police custody and will be presented in court soon.
