A Dalit rights organisation has condemned the recent assault on two YouTubers in India, calling it a serious violation of personal safety and freedom of expression. The forum has demanded an immediate and impartial investigation to identify and prosecute those responsible.

According to reports, the YouTubers, known for producing content on social issues and community matters, were allegedly attacked by unidentified individuals while filming in a public space. Witnesses have indicated that the confrontation appeared linked to their work, although authorities have not yet confirmed the motive.

In a statement, the forum said such acts of violence not only threaten individual safety but also create a climate of fear for creators who use digital platforms to address social concerns. A spokesperson stressed that physical attacks on those expressing their views undermine open dialogue and the democratic right to free expression.

Rights advocates note that members of marginalised communities, including Dalits, can face targeted harassment and intimidation, particularly when their work challenges existing societal norms. They emphasise that the right to free expression should be protected for all citizens, regardless of caste, occupation, or political affiliation.

The organisation has urged police to register a formal case under relevant legal provisions, including sections that address caste-based discrimination if applicable. It also called for measures to ensure the safety of the victims and prevent further incidents. Additionally, the forum encouraged digital platforms to develop stronger systems for supporting creators who encounter threats or violence linked to their content.

Civil society groups have echoed these concerns, warning that violence against journalists, activists, and online creators can erode public confidence in law enforcement and weaken public discourse. They argue that swift accountability in such cases is vital to protect free expression and deter similar incidents in the future.

Police have confirmed that an inquiry is in progress, though no arrests have been made at the time of reporting. The Dalit forum has pledged to monitor developments closely and continue its advocacy until the case is resolved.
