CRPF Jawan Shot Dead in Haryana’s Gohana After Dispute Linked to Kanwar Yatra

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was shot dead outside his home in Kheri Damkan village in Gohana, Haryana, in the early hours of Monday. The incident is believed to be the result of a revenge attack linked to a recent altercation during the Kanwar Yatra pilgrimage.

The victim, 30-year-old Krishan Kumar, was on a month-long leave from his posting in Chhattisgarh. He had returned home to be with his wife, who had just given birth to their second child three days earlier.

According to police officials, Krishan had a confrontation with several local youths during the Kanwar Yatra in Haridwar on July 22. Though the dispute was thought to have been resolved at the time, it is now suspected to have led to his murder.

At around 1 a.m. on Monday, Krishan was reportedly called out of his house by a group of individuals. He was shot shortly after and was rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The Sonipat police have identified three suspects from the same village: Ajay, Nishant, and Anand, based on a complaint filed by Krishan’s family. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and multiple teams have been deployed to track down the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far.

Krishan is survived by his wife and two sons, including his newborn. His wife remains hospitalized following childbirth.

Local authorities and villagers have expressed shock over the incident, which highlights growing concerns about personal disputes escalating into fatal violence. Police investigations are ongoing, and officials have assured that all efforts are being made to apprehend those responsible.
