Army Jawan Killed by Live-In Partner in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor, Accused Arrested

An Army jawan was allegedly strangled to death by his live-in partner in Adarshnagar, Najibabad, a locality in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident, which took place earlier this month, came to light after the post-mortem report confirmed strangulation as the cause of death. The accused woman has since been arrested and a murder case has been registered against her.

According to the police, the victim, Amit Sagar, 32, was in a live-in relationship with the accused, Mamta, for the past three years. The couple reportedly had a turbulent relationship marked by frequent arguments and physical altercations, often fueled by Sagar’s alleged alcohol addiction.

Circle Officer Nitesh Pratap Singh confirmed that the accused was taken into custody following the post-mortem findings and a complaint filed by the deceased’s mother, Kanti Devi. The police acted promptly after the family raised suspicions about the circumstances of Sagar’s death, which initially appeared unnatural.

Investigators said that Mamta confessed during interrogation that she killed Sagar after enduring repeated domestic violence and verbal abuse. She allegedly told police that she wanted to free herself from the relationship and acted alone in committing the crime.

Sagar was found unconscious in the shared residence on July 15 and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Initially, the case was not registered as a homicide, but following the autopsy report, authorities initiated further inquiry.

Following her arrest, Mamta has been booked under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (murder) and remains in judicial custody. Police have stated that the investigation is still ongoing and they are examining phone records, witness accounts, and other evidence to verify the full sequence of events.
