Man Extradited from Trinidad Arrested for Threat Emails to Zeeshan Siddique

The Mumbai Police Crime Branch has arrested 35-year-old Mohammad Dilshad Mohammad Naushad, who was extradited from Trinidad and Tobago under a Red Corner Notice, for allegedly sending a series of threatening emails to former NCP MLA Zeeshan Siddique.

According to police, Siddique received the emails in April, demanding ₹10 crore and making threats that referenced the killing of his father, veteran politician Baba Siddique, who was shot dead in October 2024. The messages also claimed links to the D-Company while denying involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The emails, sent on April 19, 20, and 21 to Siddique’s official Gmail account, were traced to an IP address in Trinidad and Tobago. Investigators said Naushad, originally from Darbhanga in Bihar, was residing there when the threats were issued. Siddique lodged a complaint at Bandra Police Station, after which the case was transferred to the Crime Branch’s Anti-Extortion Cell.

Naushad was detained upon arrival at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport on July 31 and taken into custody. Police have booked him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. His mobile phone, SIM cards, and passport have been seized for forensic analysis.

Investigators suspect the threats may have been part of a cyber-extortion attempt and could also have been intended to mislead authorities about the perpetrators behind Baba Siddique’s murder. The case is being jointly investigated by the Crime Branch, cybercrime units, and other agencies.

Zeeshan Siddique has been provided enhanced security and continues to cooperate with the investigation. Police have not yet established any direct gang links but said inquiries are ongoing.
