Three Pahalgam Attack Perpetrators Neutralized in Joint Operation: Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists, including a top commander, have been eliminated in a joint security operation in Jammu and Kashmir. The action, part of Operation Mahadev, targeted those directly responsible for the deadly Pahalgam terror attack earlier this year.

Speaking during the second debate on Operation Sindoor in the lower house of Parliament, Shah confirmed that Suleman, also known as Faizal, an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba commander, along with Afghan and Jibran, both A-category militants of the same outfit, were killed in the coordinated offensive. The operation was carried out by the Indian Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“All three terrorists who killed our citizens in the Baisaran Valley have been eliminated,” Shah stated. He added that individuals who had been supplying the terrorists with food and support were detained earlier and that these detainees later identified the bodies after they were brought to Srinagar.

The Home Minister condemned the Pahalgam attack as “barbaric,” noting that innocent civilians were targeted in front of their families after being asked their religion. “I express my sympathies to the families who lost their loved ones,” he said.

According to official accounts, the encounter took place on Monday in the Harwan area near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army reported that contact was established in the general area of Lidwas, leading to an intense firefight that resulted in the elimination of the three militants. The joint forces’ swift action under Operation Mahadev marks a significant counter-terrorism achievement in the region.
