Heinous Crime in Bihar: Woman Candidate Sexually Assaulted by Ambulance Staff During Home Guard Recruitment

A 26-year-old female candidate was allegedly gang-raped by two men inside an ambulance while being taken to the hospital after fainting during a race held as part of the home guard recruitment process in Bodh Gaya, Bihar.

According to the police, the victim had fainted mid-race and was being transported to the hospital when the horrific assault took place. The accused have been identified as Vinay Kumar, the driver of the ambulance, and Ajit Kumar, a technician.

The victim’s family has alleged that although only women candidates were appearing for the recruitment, there was no female staff present in the ambulance. This lapse in security measures has drawn widespread condemnation.

A first information report (FIR) has been registered under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Bodh Gaya police station. The woman’s statement has been recorded, and she has been sent for a medical examination.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anand Kumar has ordered the formation of a special investigation team under the City Superintendent of Police Ramanand Kumar Kaushal to probe the matter thoroughly. Both the accused have been arrested within a few hours based on CCTV footage and the victim’s identification.

“Police will complete the investigation soon and submit a charge sheet to the court with a recommendation for a speedy trial to ensure punishment for the accused,” said SSP Kumar.

This heinous incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stringent security measures and the presence of female staff during recruitment drives, especially those involving women candidates. The authorities have assured swift and decisive action to ensure justice for the victim and deter such crimes in the future.
