Drunk Man in Madhepura Allegedly Bites Wife to Death During Domestic Dispute

A shocking incident in Bihar’s Madhepura district has left the state reeling, after a 26‑year‑old woman named Sushila Devi was reportedly bitten to death by her intoxicated husband in their home village of Shyam. The unusually brutal assault occurred late Tuesday night following a dispute between the couple over the man’s drinking habits.

Officials say the victim’s husband, identified as Vilash Rishideo, was heavily intoxicated when the altercation broke out. In a state of rage, he allegedly attacked his wife and bit her neck multiple times. Sushila succumbed to her injuries on the spot.

Neighbors rushed in after hearing the cries of the couple’s four children, three daughters and a son. Panicked, they found Sushila lying in a pool of blood. The villagers immediately apprehended Vilash and alerted authorities.

Local police, led by Gwalpara station house officer Ravi Kumar Paswan, arrested Vilash early Wednesday morning. He now faces charges based on statements provided by Sushila’s relatives. Her body has been sent for autopsy as part of an ongoing investigation.

The brutal nature of the attack has sent shockwaves across Shyam village. Locals have blamed the availability of spurious liquor in the region for contributing to escalating domestic violence. Many are demanding stricter enforcement of Bihar’s liquor ban and urgent action to prevent similar incidents.
