Mumbai Family Arrested After Teen Girl Reports Multiple Sexual Assaults by Father, Brothers, and Neighbor

In a shocking case emerging from Mulund, Mumbai, a 14-year-old girl has confessed that her father, two brothers, and a neighborhood man sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions last year. The family, residing in a chawl in Mulund, was recently taken into custody following her disclosures to authorities.

The girl first reported being sexually assaulted by four different men in November 2024. After her initial complaint, she was brought before the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and placed in a children’s home. Police then arrested the four men involved, and a charge sheet was filed in connection with those incidents.

However, during recent counseling, the girl revealed that her father, two brothers, and a 50-year-old neighbor had also assaulted her on separate occasions from January 2024 to November 2024. She stated that these assaults took place inside her home when no one else was around, while the neighbor raped her in an isolated outdoor location. This new information prompted police to re-examine the case.

According to Mulund police, the girl’s statement was verified by the Child Welfare Committee, which recorded her account. Following this, police approached the POCSO court last week to inform them about the previous case, leading the court to direct the registration of a new offence.

On Monday, the police registered a fresh case against the family members and the neighbor. The father, aged 42, and his eldest son were arrested on the same day. The younger son, aged 16, and the 50-year-old neighbor are still at large. The suspects face charges under Sections 63 and 64 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, related to rape and punishment for rape, as well as Sections 4, 8, and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, which cover penetrative sexual assault, sexual assault, and sexual harassment of a child.

An officer from Mulund police stated that authorities are actively searching for the remaining two accused and are committed to bringing them to justice. The investigation is ongoing, and further updates are expected as law enforcement works to ensure the safety of the victim.
