CRPF Jawan Strangles Live-In Partner, an ASI, in Gujarat; Surrenders at Her Own Police Station

In a chilling case of domestic violence, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly strangled his live-in partner, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) with the Gujarat Police, at their rented residence in Kutch district on Friday night. The accused, identified as Dilip Dangachiya, later surrendered at Anjar Police Station, where the victim, Aruna Jadav, was posted.

According to police officials, the incident occurred late Friday when the couple reportedly engaged in a heated argument. Dilip, who was on leave from his CRPF posting in Manipur, is believed to have killed Aruna in a fit of rage. The two had been in a relationship since 2021 and were living together in a flat in Gangotri Society, Anjar.

Superintendent of Police Sagar Bagmar confirmed the details. “In the heat of an argument, Dangachiya strangled ASI Aruna Jadav to death. After realizing what he had done, he attempted suicide by slashing his wrist and consuming phenyl, but survived,” Bagmar said.

Neighbors reported hearing loud voices and a commotion from the couple’s apartment around 11:00 p.m. on Friday. The next morning, Dilip walked into Anjar Police Station and confessed to the crime. Police immediately visited the flat, recovered the victim’s body, and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Inspector Ajaysinh Gohil of Anjar Police Station stated, “The accused confessed to the crime. The investigation is underway, and we are looking into all possible motives. A case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered.”

Reports indicate that the couple had met on social media and had been living together for some time with intentions of getting married. Aruna was a native of Dervala village in Surendranagar district, while Dilip hailed from nearby Tokrala village.

Authorities are now investigating the exact sequence of events leading to the murder. The accused remains in custody and is expected to face charges of murder and attempted suicide.
