Naresh Kumar has been arrested following a shocking incident in Sisoli village, Meerut district, where he repeatedly slammed a community dog onto the road, causing its death, police confirmed on Saturday. A viral video of the act prompted swift action, leading to a First Information Report (FIR) and the subsequent arrest.

Earlier this week, on Monday, a bystander recorded the disturbing footage showing Naresh violently tossing the stray dog onto the hard surface. The video quickly spread on social media, triggering widespread public outrage and calls for legal consequences.

Following the video’s circulation, local law enforcement registered an FIR against Naresh under sections pertaining to animal cruelty. He was subsequently located and taken into custody in Sisoli, where he reportedly confessed to the act, according to police statements.

“The accused was arrested promptly after the footage became public,” said Inspector Amit Verma of the Sisoli Police Station. He added that authorities are consulting with animal welfare experts to determine the appropriate legal provisions, including penalties under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Animal rights groups have strongly condemned the incident, with one volunteer stating, “This was a brutal and unprovoked attack on a helpless stray.” Activists are urging authorities to ensure strict enforcement of animal protection laws to prevent such incidents in the future.

Residents of Sisoli village expressed shock and grief. “We have seen him around, but no one expected this,” commented local resident Sunita Singh, describing the attack as both cruel and unnecessary.

Naresh is currently being held at the local police station, and authorities have confirmed that veterinary staff will conduct a post‑mortem examination to document the injuries and confirm the cause of death. Police are expected to file charges under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Community leaders have called for increased awareness and education on humane treatment of animals, suggesting that additional patrols and surveillance may be necessary to deter future offenses. Meanwhile, investigations continue into Naresh’s background and any prior complaints of animal cruelty.
