Pune Man Arrested After Stabbing Unemployed Younger Brother in Domestic Dispute

A 26-year-old man was arrested on Monday, July 15, in Pune, India, after allegedly stabbing his younger brother during a domestic dispute. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at a residence in Upper Super Ganeshnagar, Bibvewadi. Police identified the suspect as Aniket Dattatray Navale and the victim as his 24-year-old brother, Pravin Navale.

According to Bibvewadi Senior Inspector Ashwini Satpute, the two brothers frequently argued, with the younger sibling’s behavior reportedly being a long-standing source of conflict. Pravin Navale was unemployed and allegedly known for drinking heavily and abusing family members, both verbally and physically. Police said on Monday morning, during another argument, Aniket lost his temper and attacked his brother with a kitchen knife, stabbing him twice in the abdomen.

Neighbors who heard the commotion alerted local authorities. Pravin was rushed to Sassoon General Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Aniket remained at the scene and was taken into custody by responding officers. A case has been registered, and police confirmed that further investigation is underway.

The family’s background reveals a broader picture of stress and responsibility. Their mother works as a domestic helper, and their father is bedridden. Aniket, who works in a private firm, has been supporting the family financially. Sources said that his wife had left the household due to the ongoing disturbances caused by Pravin’s behavior, further compounding pressure on Aniket.

Senior Inspector Satpute told The Times of India, “The brothers often had arguments. The younger brother was jobless and consumed liquor frequently. He often harassed the family members, including Aniket.”

Police are continuing to review statements and evidence, including the weapon used in the attack. They urge residents experiencing domestic conflicts to seek intervention before situations escalate into violence.
