A 64-year-old woman was seriously injured after being pushed off a moving train during a robbery near Kozhikode railway station on Friday morning. The victim, identified as Ammini from Thrissur, was traveling on the Sampark Kranti Express with her brother when the incident occurred around 4:30 am.

According to reports, Ammini was standing near the door of the S-1 coach while her brother was in the restroom. A man in his fifties allegedly attempted to snatch her handbag. When she resisted, he pushed her off the slowly moving train, jumped off himself, and fled with the bag. The stolen bag reportedly contained ₹8,500 in cash, a mobile phone, and her Aadhaar card.

Ammini suffered a head injury from the fall but narrowly escaped being hit by a train on a parallel track. Her brother immediately pulled the emergency chain to halt the train. Fellow passengers rushed to assist her, and she was initially taken to a hospital in Tirur before being shifted to Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Doctors have stated that she is in stable condition.

Railway police have launched an investigation and formed a special team to identify and arrest the accused. Authorities are examining CCTV footage and gathering witness statements as part of the ongoing probe into the incident.
