Gurugram Woman Held for Sending Death Threats to Husband Using Fake Instagram Account

Gurugram police have arrested a woman for allegedly creating a fake Instagram profile and using it to send death threats to her husband and herself in an attempt to mislead authorities.

According to officials from the Cyber Crime South Police Station, the woman, identified as Priya Mishra, a resident of a gated society in Sohna, initially filed a complaint claiming that she and her husband were receiving life-threatening messages from an unknown Instagram user.

Acting on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and traced the origin of the messages. It was soon revealed that the account had been created using Priya’s own mobile phone. Further examination confirmed that she had fabricated the entire episode by sending the threats to both herself and her husband.

The motive behind the act, police say, appears to be rooted in personal tensions between the couple. Priya was taken into custody on August 6. The mobile phone used to send the messages has been seized and is being treated as key evidence in the case.

Authorities stated that the incident highlights how digital platforms can be misused for personal vendettas and cautioned the public against filing false complaints. The investigation is ongoing, and police are examining whether further legal action will be pursued under sections related to criminal intimidation and misuse of electronic communication.
