A 24-year-old man was killed by his friend during a drinking session in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, after a dispute over money escalated into violence. The incident took place in the Kupwad industrial area, according to local police.

The accused, identified as Pratap Rajendra Chavan, was drinking with his childhood friend Mayur Sachin Sathe, also 24, on Tuesday. According to investigators, the two had been consuming alcohol throughout the day when Sathe allegedly took money from Chavan’s pocket without permission. The act led to a heated argument between the two.

In a sudden fit of rage, Chavan picked up a stone and struck Sathe on the head. The impact caused serious injuries, and Sathe died on the spot. The accused later surrendered at a nearby police station and confessed to the crime.

Police officials have registered a case of murder and are conducting a thorough investigation. The incident appears to have stemmed from a personal dispute while under the influence of alcohol. We are examining all aspects and gathering evidence, said a police officer familiar with the case.
