Over 300 PMAY Homes Allotted in Basant Kunj Scheme, Lucknow

The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has initiated the draw for housing allotments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) at the Basant Kunj scheme. The event began on July 24 and spans three days, with flats allocated across reserve categories at Mercury Hall, Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.

On the first day, 307 applicants received homes in Sector‑I under categories including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, persons with disabilities (Divyangjan), and senior citizens. These units are part of a total of 1,000 flats approved under the PMAY-Urban Affordable Housing in Partnership vertical. Each flat is approximately 34 square meters in carpet area and priced around ₹4.79 lakh.

Applications were opened in 2021, drawing over 9,200 submissions. Following verification, 7,784 candidates were deemed eligible and included in the lottery draw.

The lucky recipients will see significant relief, as these affordable units aim to assist low-income and economically weaker household groups. The flats are four‑storey structures located in a planned residential zone with access to infrastructure including roads, healthcare, and schools.

Draws for remaining quota categories, iincluding general applicants, women, and minorities, are scheduled over the next two days. Final allotment results are expected to be uploaded on the LDA’s official portal once complete.

Officials emphasised that the lottery system is intended to ensure transparency and fairness in the housing allocation process. The pace and structure of the draws suggest careful planning by the LDA to reach under‑served citizens through PMAY.

This round of allotments comes amid broader efforts by the LDA to clear its housing inventory and deliver on central affordable housing targets. While the allotment process is active, developers and authorities are also preparing for upcoming plot e‑auctions within Basant Kunj and other housing sectors.

As the lottery continues, thousands of further applicants await results in one of Lucknow’s most high-profile government‑subsidised housing programmes.
