KDMC to Launch Maharashtra’s First One-Window Online Building Permission System on August 15

In a significant move toward digitizing urban development processes, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is set to launch Maharashtra’s first fully online, one-window building permission system on August 15. The initiative aims to streamline the application process for construction approvals, improving transparency, reducing delays, and enhancing user convenience.

The new system, powered by the Building Permission Management System (BPMS) software provided by the state government, will allow applicants (builders, architects, and citizens) to submit proposals and documents online. It enables real-time tracking of application status and offers full visibility into which department is currently reviewing a file. Missing documents can also be uploaded directly to the platform, eliminating the need for physical visits to municipal offices.

According to KDMC officials, the initiative will replace the current multi-step manual process, which often requires applicants to run from one department to another for clearances such as fire safety, environmental checks, zoning approval, and structural assessments. By consolidating all these into a single online interface, the municipal body hopes to bring efficiency and fairness to the system.

KDMC Commissioner Dr. Indurani Jakhar stated that the new digital platform would significantly reduce human interface, thereby minimizing the chances of corruption and bringing about a transparent governance model. “This one-window system will ensure better service delivery and improve the ease of doing business in the construction sector,” she said.

Ahead of the rollout, KDMC has conducted training sessions for local developers and architects to familiarize them with the system’s functionality. Many in the industry have welcomed the move, describing it as a much-needed reform to reduce the long waiting times and bureaucratic hurdles that often accompany building approvals.
