Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring that every poor family in the state has a home. The announcement was made during a state-level program in Panchkula, where beneficiaries were handed legal ownership certificates and plot allotment letters under both urban and rural housing schemes.

At the event, 1,144 beneficiaries received interim ownership documents under the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana, while 3,884 rural beneficiaries from 58 villages were given plot allotment letters under Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana 2.0. Saini described housing as more than just shelter, calling it a source of dignity, security, and opportunity.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the initiatives are a result of cooperation between the central and state governments, ensuring resources are used efficiently and distributed transparently. He stressed that beneficiary selection is conducted strictly on the basis of need, with digital and merit-based processes to prevent favoritism.

Launched in 2024, the Mukhyamantri Shehri Awas Yojana and Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana aim to provide financial assistance to low-income families earning up to ₹1.8 lakh annually. Eligible beneficiaries receive a 30 or 100 square yard plot and ₹1.5 lakh for construction.

According to official figures, more than ₹579 crore has been allocated for rural housing and ₹1,650 crore for urban housing in Haryana so far. This funding has supported the sanctioning of over 77,900 homes in urban areas and 69,150 homes in rural areas. Beneficiaries also receive additional support, such as grants for toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission and wage assistance through MGNREGA.

Saini highlighted other welfare measures provided by his government, including LPG cylinders at ₹500 for 18 lakh families, tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission, improved hospital services, and uninterrupted electricity without minimum fixed charges. He contrasted these achievements with what he described as the unfulfilled promises of the previous administration.

The Chief Minister affirmed that the state is moving steadily toward its goal of ensuring no poor family is left without a roof over their head, with housing, amenities, and welfare schemes working together to uplift the most vulnerable communities.
