Bharat Forge Limited (BFL), a global leader in advanced forging and precision engineering, has announced plans to establish a new, state-of-the-art ring mill facility dedicated to aerospace applications. This strategic move follows the signing of new supply contracts with Pratt & Whitney Canada, a prominent aerospace engine manufacturer. The facility, which will be constructed at the company’s headquarters in Pune, is set to be operational by 2026. It will produce high-performance components for aero-engine applications, with a goal of strengthening India’s position in the global aerospace supply chain.

A ring mill is a specialized piece of equipment used to manufacture high-precision, ring-shaped components that are critical to the function and safety of jet engines and other aerospace systems. The parts produced by these mills must adhere to the highest global standards for quality, strength, durability, and traceability. By establishing this new facility, Bharat Forge aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies to meet these rigorous requirements and expand its manufacturing capabilities in a high-value sector. The investment underscores the company’s commitment to technology-driven growth and its role in India’s industrial evolution.

Amit Kalyani, Vice-Chairman and Joint Managing Director of Bharat Forge, emphasized the strategic importance of this development. “We are excited to deepen our strategic relationship with Pratt & Whitney Canada through the establishment of this new ring mill,” he said. “It not only reinforces our commitment to the global aerospace ecosystem but also marks a significant step in advancing India’s manufacturing capabilities in high-value aerospace components.”

This initiative aligns with India’s broader vision of becoming a global aerospace manufacturing hub, bolstering the nation’s self-reliance and technological prowess. The new ring mill will support both domestic and international aerospace programs, creating a more resilient supply chain. Frederic Lefebvre, Vice President of Supply Chain at Pratt & Whitney Canada, acknowledged the importance of the partnership, noting that it reflects a commitment to a robust global supply chain and the advancement of India’s aerospace ecosystem.

The establishment of this advanced manufacturing facility marks a critical step for Bharat Forge and the Indian aerospace industry. As the facility becomes operational in 2026, it is expected to enhance India’s ability to produce sophisticated aero-engine parts, reducing reliance on foreign suppliers and attracting further investment and partnerships in the high-technology aerospace sector.
