Modi Denies Foreign Pressure to Halt Operation Sindoor

Prime Minister Narendra Modi clarified on Monday, July 29, that no international leader asked India to stop its recent military action, known as Operation Sindoor, firmly asserting that India’s decisions were made independently and in the national interest.

Speaking during a debate in the Lok Sabha, India’s lower house of Parliament, Modi addressed criticism and speculation surrounding the country’s military response in the region. He stated, “No leader in the world asked India to stop military action,” countering any suggestion that external pressure influenced the operation.

Operation Sindoor was launched as a strategic military response by Indian forces. While specific details of the mission remain limited, officials have described it as a decisive step taken by India’s defense establishment in response to heightened security concerns, particularly along the Line of Control (LoC), the contested border area between India and Pakistan in the Kashmir region.

The Prime Minister’s remarks also appeared to indirectly reject past claims made by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who previously stated during his term that he played a role in reducing tensions between India and Pakistan. India’s Ministry of External Affairs had earlier denied any formal request for mediation, maintaining that matters concerning Kashmir are strictly bilateral.

By emphasizing that India’s military strategy was not subject to foreign influence, Modi reinforced the country’s position on national sovereignty and independent decision-making in defense matters.

The statement drew strong support from members of the ruling coalition and highlighted India’s ongoing commitment to act decisively when its security is at stake.
