Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday commended External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar for his address in Parliament regarding Operation Sindoor, describing the speech as “outstanding.” The Prime Minister remarked that Jaishankar had articulated India’s stance against terrorism with clarity and strength, ensuring that the world took notice of it.

Taking to social media, Modi said Jaishankar had strongly voiced the country’s viewpoint in Parliament and highlighted that under this government, national interest always comes first.

Jaishankar, in his speech, gave a detailed overview of Operation Sindoor, an armed response launched by India following the terror attack on a bus carrying pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. He stated that India’s action was precise and measured, aimed only at terror-related targets. He emphasized that the operation was halted only after a request for a ceasefire came directly from Pakistan, not because of international pressure.

The External Affairs Minister outlined a five-point framework for India’s approach to terrorism. He stressed that terrorism will not be tolerated as a tool of statecraft, cross-border terrorism will receive an appropriate response, dialogue will only occur in the context of terror cessation, nuclear blackmail will be ignored, and normal relations cannot exist alongside terrorism.

Prime Minister Modi also lauded Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, calling his speech on Operation Sindoor “insightful.” Singh had reiterated the commitment of India’s armed forces and praised their role in neutralizing the threat posed by cross-border terrorism.

Jaishankar further noted that India received overwhelming support from the international community, with over 190 countries backing its right to self-defense. Only a few opposed India’s actions, he said, while major groups, such as BRICS and the Quad, supported India’s position.

The parliamentary debate on Operation Sindoor came after days of disruption in both Houses. Opposition members questioned the government on intelligence lapses and demanded transparency, while the ruling party emphasized India’s decisive response.

The Prime Minister also used the occasion to highlight India’s progress in indigenous defense manufacturing. He said weapons made in India were key to the success of Operation Sindoor and reflected the country’s growing strength in defense technology.
