Torrential rain brought large parts of the capital to a standstill, with severe waterlogging reported near NH-24 and Pandav Nagar. Commuters were seen wading through knee-deep water as traffic moved at a snail’s pace across key routes.

The downpour, which began early in the day, led to the accumulation of water on major roads, including the NH-24 stretch near Pandav Nagar, a recurring trouble spot during monsoon season. Videos from the area showed stranded vehicles and pedestrians struggling to navigate the flooded roads.

Emergency response teams were deployed to clear drains and ease congestion, but commuters faced long delays during peak hours. Several school buses and office-goers were caught in traffic snarls that extended for kilometers.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), more rainfall is expected throughout the week, prompting city authorities to remain on alert. The Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories urging citizens to avoid low-lying areas and use alternate routes wherever possible.

Despite repeated infrastructure upgrades, areas like Pandav Nagar continue to suffer from inadequate drainage systems, exacerbating the city’s monsoon woes.

As of Monday evening, water levels in most affected zones had started receding, but authorities urged residents to remain cautious.
