India Working with Like-Minded Nations to Counter Global Security Challenges, Says Foreign Secretary Misri

India is actively collaborating with like-minded countries to address pressing global security and economic concerns, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said on Tuesday. His remarks came during the seventh Indian Ocean Conference, where he emphasized the need for shared efforts to ensure peace, stability, and growth in the region.

Speaking at the event, Misri stated, “India has continued to partner with like-minded countries to develop cooperative and collective responses to global and regional challenges.” He underlined India’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with countries across the Indo-Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.

The conference focused on maritime security, economic cooperation, and strategic connectivity. Misri emphasized that India’s approach has been grounded in respect for international law and rules-based order, particularly in the maritime domain. He also pointed out India’s increasing investments in regional infrastructure and connectivity projects.

Citing the growing importance of the Indian Ocean as a strategic hub for global commerce, the foreign secretary said, “India’s maritime interests are central to our national development and economic well-being. We must ensure that the region remains open, inclusive, and free from coercion.”

He also highlighted India’s humanitarian assistance and disaster relief efforts, as well as its leadership role in promoting climate resilience and sustainable development.

The Indian Ocean Conference, organized annually by the India Foundation in partnership with regional governments and think tanks, brings together leaders, ministers, and policy experts from across Asia, Africa, and beyond to discuss collaborative efforts on pressing regional issues.

Misri’s remarks underscore India’s evolving foreign policy priorities as it continues to assert a stronger presence on the global stage, aligning with democratic nations and advocating for a multipolar, rules-based world order.
