Bengaluru is experiencing extensive traffic restrictions today, August 10, 2025, due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced temporary measures in place from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. to ensure security and manage vehicular movement during the Prime Minister’s scheduled programmes.

From 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., restrictions apply on Marenahalli Main Road between Rajalakshmi Junction and Marenahalli 18th Main Road. This includes the stretch from East End Main Road Junction to Aravind Junction.

From 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., traffic will be restricted on Hosur Road, including the route from Silk Board towards Hosur via the Electronics City Elevated Flyover. Several internal roads in Electronic City Phase 1, such as Infosys Avenue, Velankani Road, and HP Avenue Road, are also closed to regular traffic.

Vehicles travelling on the NICE Road towards Electronic City are being diverted to Bannerghatta Road. This diversion affects traffic from Kanakapura, Nayandahalli, Sompura, Kengeri, Magadi, and Madavara tolls, which will be redirected via the NICE-Bannerghatta corridor.

  • From Rajalakshmi Junction to Jayadeva Hospital: Use Sarakki Market Road → 9th Cross Road → IG Circle → RV Dental Junction.
  • To access Bannerghatta Road: Use Sarakki Junction → Outer Ring Road.
  • From East End Circle to Banashankari: Take 29th Main → 28th Main → Dalmia Junction → Outer Ring Road → Sarakki → Kanakapura Road → Banashankari.
  • From Hosur Road towards Kanakapura, Mysuru, or Tumakuru: Use Jigani Road → Bommasandra Junction → NICE Road.
  • From NICE Road to Hosur: Exit at Bannerghatta → Jigani Road → Bommasandra → Hosur.
  • Within Electronic City Phase 1: Take 2nd Cross Road, Shikaripalya Road, Hulimangala Road, or Gollahalli Road.

The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes inaugurating the Yellow Line of the Bengaluru Metro, flagging off Vande Bharat Express trains, and laying the foundation stone for Metro Phase-III projects.

Public transport is expected to be minimally affected. BMTC buses will have limited rerouting, and Namma Metro services will operate normally to provide reliable options for passengers.

Security has been intensified across key parts of the city, with more than 50 checkpoints and nearly 10,000 police personnel deployed, particularly in the Jayanagar, JP Nagar, and Electronic City areas. Surveillance drones, CCTV monitoring, and road barricades have been set up to ensure public safety.

Commuters are advised to plan trips, use navigation tools for real-time updates, and follow instructions from traffic police. Restrictions are expected to be lifted progressively after 2:30 p.m., once the official events conclude.
