Indian Long-Range Precision Strikes Had Psychological Impact on Pakistan: Chief of Defence Staff

India’s long-range precision strikes have had a significant psychological impact on Pakistan, according to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan. Speaking at an event in the national capital, General Chauhan highlighted that these strikes were not only tactically effective but also shifted the strategic mindset across the border.

The CDS noted that India’s ability to conduct deep, accurate strikes has introduced a new dimension to deterrence. “There is a psychological effect on the enemy when precision strikes are carried out at long ranges. It influences how they plan and operate,” he said.

General Chauhan emphasized the growing importance of technology in warfare, stating that traditional large-scale battles are being replaced by high-impact, targeted operations. He stated that modern warfare increasingly relies on precision, agility, and technological superiority rather than just numerical strength.

Without naming specific operations, he pointed to recent military actions and preparedness drills that demonstrated India’s capability to hit strategic enemy assets from extended ranges. These actions, he suggested, have forced adversaries to reconsider their defense strategies and posture.

The CDS also spoke about the evolution of military power in the 21st century. He noted that conventional warfare is being reshaped by emerging technologies, with a focus on cyber capabilities, artificial intelligence, and space-based assets. “The nature of conflict has changed. It is no longer about massive troop movements but about decisive strikes and information dominance,” he added.

General Chauhan’s comments come amid continued efforts by the Indian armed forces to enhance strike capabilities and readiness across all domains, including land, air, sea, cyber, and space.

Defense analysts view the remarks as a clear signal of India’s commitment to maintaining strategic deterrence through advanced military capabilities and operational transparency.
