Mumbai-bound IndiGo Flight Delayed Four Hours After Flat Tyre at Jabalpur Airport

A Mumbai-bound IndiGo flight was delayed by more than four hours on Sunday after developing a flat tyre while parked on the apron at Jabalpur’s Dumna Airport.

The aircraft had arrived from Mumbai around noon and was scheduled to depart again at 12:40 p.m. Shortly after passengers disembarked, ground staff discovered that one of the rear tyres had deflated. The issue prevented the flight from taking off as planned.

Dumna Airport Director Rajeev Ratan Pandey confirmed the incident, stating that the tyre had to be replaced before the aircraft could resume service. A replacement tyre was flown in from Delhi, and repairs were carried out on the spot.

The flight eventually departed for Mumbai at approximately 5:30 p.m., carrying some of the original passengers. Others were accommodated on alternative routes to Mumbai via Bengaluru and Delhi to minimise disruption.

Nearly 2,900 people were rescued and relocated to relief shelters in flood-hit districts of Madhya Pradesh in a separate ongoing crisis, but the tyre incident in Jabalpur was unrelated to these operations.

Airport authorities assured that all safety protocols were followed and that no injuries were reported during the incident. Passengers were kept informed throughout the delay, and refreshments were provided.

“The aircraft was able to depart once the tyre replacement was completed,” Pandey said in a report, adding that the airline coordinated closely with airport staff to ensure a safe and timely resolution.
