‘Kingdom’ Box Office Day 5: Vijay Deverakonda Film Sees Sharp Decline

Vijay Deverakonda’s latest action thriller, Kingdom, witnessed a steep decline in earnings on its first Monday, collecting just ₹1.59 crore in India. This brings the film’s total domestic net collection to about ₹42.49 crore.

The film opened strongly on Thursday with ₹18 crore, driven by high anticipation and strong bookings. On Friday, collections dropped to ₹7.5 crore, followed by a slight recovery on Saturday with ₹8 crore. Sunday saw earnings of around ₹7 crore, pushing the four-day total to roughly ₹40.5 crore.

Despite a solid opening, the Monday numbers represent the film’s lowest single-day earnings since release and suggest waning audience interest. First Monday collections are often seen as a measure of a movie’s staying power at the box office, and a sharp fall can indicate challenges in sustaining momentum.

Kingdom has now overtaken the lifetime domestic earnings of Deverakonda’s 2022 release Liger, which stood at ₹41.17 crore. However, it still ranks among the lower performers compared to other major Telugu releases of 2025. The film’s ability to cross higher benchmarks will depend heavily on its weekday performance in the coming days.

The action-packed spy drama was marketed as a large-scale entertainer. While its initial numbers reflected strong audience curiosity, the quick drop after the weekend hints that word-of-mouth may be mixed. The production team is expected to rely on regional market support and extended weekend viewership to improve overall collections.

Industry analysts note that consistent weekday revenue is crucial for big-budget films to maximize profitability. Without a rebound, Kingdom risks closing its run below earlier projections despite its promising start. The next few days will be crucial in determining whether the film can regain momentum or settle into an average box office trajectory.
